Or at least it is not a proper word. Vildnis or villnis is the Danish/Norwegian word for wilderness. Vildnæs is a word of my own making.
“Vild” means wild, and “næs” is the old norse word for headland or ness.

Vildnæs is what the nordic wilderness is to me: Old, wild and full of cultural meaning shaped through thousand of years. It is the old gods, and folklore. The snow on the mountaintops and the deep lakes and valleys. It is the quiet forests and open beaches where waves have eaten away at the land for millennia.
